When looking to move a web-site, a big concern for web-site designers is harming online listings by moving it “in the cloud.”
To define, “in the cloud” is an expression used to describe the infrastructure of a computer network. The typical infrastructure of a cloud includes different personal and business applications that can be accessed from a web browser. While the business applications are considered to be “in the cloud”, software and data is considered to be outside the cloud because it is stored on servers.
Having a site “in the cloud” can have its advantages. If moving to the web-site to another server and a different IP address, users do have the option of setting a geographic target for a specific location. For example, if a web-site has a US IP address but has a target audience in England, the geographic target can be set for England. Even though the IP address would be listed in the United States, having the site “in the cloud” gives the web-site the opportunity to reach people in England. Software patches are not needed as much within the cloud and outsourcing online content to the cloud can make that information accessible even when the server is down.
Online chatting through the Internet is still a growing phenomenon and with Orkut, it just got better. Orkut, a social network operated by Google, recently improved their online chatting by integrating both voice and video into their online chat services.
This new video online chat is easy to use and a great way for Orkut users to communicate with one another. Similar to phone calls, Orkut users can simply call on other users and invite them to use the video online chat. It’s a free online chat for both PC and Mac users and another great way to communicate over the Internet.
Since being launched, Orkut has helped users meet new people and develop relationships over the Internet. Even though there are Orkut users in the United States, the online social networking service has a huge following in both India and Brazil. Similar to other social network or social media outlets, users can create profiles, upload videos and photos and reach out to other online users.
During a web-marketing campaign, clients often ask how to remove old content from Google’s index. In order to remove a single web-page or an entire web-site, you need to do the following:
Removing a single web-page
Make sure your web server returns a true 404 code for that single page. If the http status code is not listed or showing up as a 404 code, Google will still think the page is active. If the http status code is 200, Google will not process a removal request. In other words, if it has the wrong status code, Google will still believe the page is active and will not believe it is deleted.
Removing an entire Web-Site
In order to remove an entire web-site, it needs to be blocked in robots.txt. Robots.txt give instructions to a spider (used by search engines to quickly search web-site content) on how to access and visit your site. A web spider will look to see if the robot.txt has a “user-agent:*” meaning the web-site can be accessed by everyone or a “Disallow: /”, which tells the web spider not to visit any pages on the web-site. Blocking an entire web-site in robots.txt will simply tell the web spider that access to the web-site is no longer allowed.
Since the early days of the Internet, searching for music has been one of the most popular online activities. With the arrival of Napster in 1999, music file sharing reached an all time high as Internet users could find any song they wanted for free. Even though Napster was shut down in July of 2001, music file sharing continued to progress with the invention of iTunes, the iPod, social media and Pandora. As music file sharing continues to grow in popularity, Google is taking hold of the phenomenon with its search engine.
With its search engine, Google is now allowing Internet users the ability to find information on musical artists, their songs and any other relevant information. Google users can simply type the name of an artist, a song, albums, bands, or even a song lyric within the search engine and instantly get access to songs and information on the search engine results page (also known as a SERP). Songs instantly appear at the very top of the SERP and Internet users can simply click to hear what they are looking for.
With this technology, Google has made it possible to find any musical artist or band from around the world. With the service based off using a search engine, music lovers can search for any music they want at no cost.
As a result of this integration, those looking to utilize search engine optimization or a pay-per-click campaign can have information on how well certain keywords performed and what opportunities could have brought in more web-site traffic. In other words, it’s a comparison of what is currently working and what could work later on down the line. This data can help lead to more informed decisions and can improve search engine optimization and pay-per-click campaign efforts.
This integration allows for continuous updates on keywords, keywords suggestions, and web-site visitor information. The keyword research stays up to date by supplying and organizing new keyword suggestions into the account on a daily basis. This allows for the most up-to-date keyword research to be available. With a never ending stream of keyword research, users looking to do search engine optimization or a pay-per-click campaign can consistently have the right information in front of them to make improvements.
